Open source Kubernetes networking and network security from Tigera

Project Calico is a free and open source networking and network security solution for containers, virtual machines and bare metal workloads, most commonly used with Kubernetes. Tigera invented and maintains it, and reports that it powers more than 8 million nodes daily across 166 countries.
Project Calico is used by platform engineers, DevOps teams and security teams that run Kubernetes and need pod networking and policy enforcement. Organizations that want managed features choose the commercial Calico Cloud SaaS or self-managed Calico Enterprise.
Calico Open Source is free. Tigera also sells Calico Cloud, a SaaS platform, and Calico Enterprise, a self-managed edition, but it does not list those prices on the Project Calico page, so contact Tigera or review the Calico pricing page for current figures.
Common alternatives to Project Calico include Cilium, Flannel and Antrea. Cilium is another eBPF-based project with a strong policy and observability focus, while Flannel is a simpler overlay network. Compare policy features, performance and community support.
