Cloudflare is a global connectivity cloud that sits in front of websites, apps, and networks to make them faster, more reliable, and more secure. Its massive global network delivers content close to users via CDN and caching, absorbs and mitigates DDoS attacks at scale, and provides a web application firewall (WAF), bot management, and one of the fastest DNS services on the internet. For many sites, adding Cloudflare instantly improves performance and blocks a large share of malicious traffic. The platform spans performance, security, and developer tooling. Cloudflare's Zero Trust suite (Access, Gateway, and the SASE/SSE stack) secures how people and devices connect to internal apps, replacing legacy VPNs; its developer platform — Workers (serverless edge compute), Pages, R2 object storage, D1, and KV — lets teams build and run applications at the edge; and email security, API security, and DNS management round it out. Cloudflare has increasingly positioned itself for the AI era with inference at the edge and controls for AI crawlers. Cloudflare serves everyone from individual site owners to the largest enterprises and is priced per domain (zone) for its core plans: a genuinely useful Free plan, Pro around $20/month, Business around $200/month, and custom Enterprise, with usage-based pricing for developer and Zero Trust products. It competes with Akamai, Fastly, AWS CloudFront, and Zscaler, differentiating on its integrated performance-plus-security network and edge developer platform.
