Zep is a unified context layer that connects enterprise data, documents and conversations into governed Context Graphs for AI agents. It grew from agent memory and maintains the open source Graphiti temporal knowledge graph. Developers send data to Zep as episodes, and the service retrieves relevant context for agents.
Your application sends episodes, meaning messages or data objects, to Zep. Zep builds and updates the graph and returns context on request. Episodes use credits at 1 credit per 350 bytes, while storage, retrieval and users are unmetered, and webhooks cost one eighth of a credit per invocation.
Teams building AI agents and assistants that need memory across sessions use Zep. Enterprise customers get SLAs and audit logs.
Zep has a Free plan with 10,000 credits per month, Flex at $125 per month with 50,000 credits, and Flex Plus at $375 per month with 200,000 credits. Enterprise is custom with SOC 2 Type II and a HIPAA BAA.
Zep is compared with Mastra and AgentOps for agent tooling. Mastra is a TypeScript agent framework and AgentOps focuses on agent monitoring.
